SSV Pilots New Program!

A leader in school-based mentoring in Springfield, Springfield School Volunteers (SSV) is partnering with Boy Scouts of America (BSA) to undertake a new venture – a program we are calling Mentoring Through Scouting. This program is set to begin as a pilot at Boland Elementary School this fall.

This hybrid program combines the elements and benefits of a traditional mentoring program with the values and activities of traditional scouting programs. Participating students will develop positive youth-adult relationships and will have access to a unique curriculum that will support the development of self-confidence, leadership skills, as well as mental and physical well-being.

Volunteers will have access to training and resources from both SSV and BSA, which we believe will prepare them to have the most impact on the lives of the youths they will be working with.

There are a variety of roles for volunteers, and we currently have open positions for both volunteers and students. Please contact Springfield School Volunteers at (413) 787-7100 EXT 55697 or by email atvolunteer@springfieldpublicschools.com for more information about the program or how to sign up!
